Vyrk's founder reaches the national finals of EY's Entrepreneur of the Year

Steinar Lyseng, founder of Vyrk AS, has qualified for the national finals of the prestigious Entrepreneur of the Year competition, which is organized by EY (Ernst & Young). In the ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) category, Steinar is now one of only four finalists vying for the coveted title.

The ESG category highlights companies that create strong value for society. Emphasis is placed on businesses where economic development, social responsibility and environmental protection interact and reinforce each other. Many of the participants are working towards concrete goals related to the UN's 17 Sustainable Development Goals, demonstrating their commitment to sustainable development. Reaching the finals represents a significant recognition of Lyseng's work and leadership in growth and innovation in Norwegian industry.

Among a small, select group of Norwegian firms

Of the almost 300,000 limited companies in Norway, around 4,200 companies meet this year's criteria for the Entrepreneur Of The Year program. Of these 4,200, only 300 companies have a managing director who satisfies the criteria of, among other things, active management and ownership. This year there are growth creators from just 31 unique companies competing for the title of Entrepreneur of the Year.

The world's largest growth creator program

The world's largest growth creator program – EY's «Entrepreneur of the Year» – honours leaders who demonstrate extraordinary entrepreneurship and contribute to growth and value creation, both financially and for society. The criteria include, among other things, documented growth and success over several years, a sustainable business model, the ability to create jobs, and a vision of making a positive contribution to both the local community and industry. The nominees are assessed by an independent jury consisting of leading experts from a variety of industries.

Sustainable growth and innovation in the wood industry

Over the course of just a few years, Steinar Lyseng and Vyrk have become a major player in the Norwegian market for customised and complete interior design solutions, with everything from glass walls, slats, veneer panels, panels and cladding. By combining traditional wood with innovative solutions, Vyrk has created significant growth and positioned itself as a leading supplier to both private and public construction projects.

On 12 November, an independent jury selected the finalists from Region East who would advance to the national finals in Oslo on 6 February 2025, where the Entrepreneur of the Year for Norway will be named.
