Slats – functional design for walls and ceilings

At the intersection of visual aesthetics and functional acoustics, we find slats – an architectural solution that serves both the eye and the ear.

Slats provide a distinctly modern expression while contributing to a more balanced sound environment.

Slats combines a modern visual look with good acoustic properties. They can be used both inside and outside, on walls or ceilings. They give architects a tool where form and function are no longer in contradiction but rather reinforce each other.

Craft traditions in production

At our production facilities in Valdres and Trysil, we produce slats in all types of wood. We have developed a system for prefabricated slatted elements that is simple, flexible and cost-effective. What was once reserved for prestigious public buildings has now become available for homes and cabins – a democratisation of architectural quality that Vyrk has helped drive. We offer almost unlimited variations:

• Different dimensions of the slats

• Adjustable distance between the slats

• Varying colours of acoustic covers (standard colours: black, white and grey)

• Slats mounted directly on the back panel

Tailor-made slats in all species of wood

We supply slats in most species of wood, with the option of clear lacquer, stain or paint according to the customer's preferences. We do not only operate with "standard" slat dimensions or fixed designs. Instead, each customer can choose from:

• Different Core Materials

• Varying dimensions

• Different colours

• Multiple surface treatments

To ensure optimal acoustic function, our slats are delivered with an acoustic covers mounted behind the slats. The combination of this cover and the chosen gap opening between the slats determines its noise-reducing effect. We are happy to assist with questions about slatted elements and various options for your specific project.

Kingkus – technical innovation with an environmental profile

Kingkus represents a material innovation in acoustic elements. This 12 mm thick panel combines the lightweight structure of polyester fibre with surprisingly effective sound-absorbing properties. Available in a range of colours, Kingkus challenges traditional notions of the look of acoustic solutions.

In a market where environmental concerns is often more rhetoric than reality, Kingkus stands as a concrete exception. With 100% polyester fibre, of which a minimum of 75% comes from recycled sources, and without chemical binders, it represents an actual, not just symbolic, environmentally-oriented product development.

Advantages of prefabricated slatted elements

• Standard dimensions or custom-made elements

• Includes complete mounting system

Standard in-stock slats

Slats have established themselves as a key element in contemporary interior design. Our in-stock slats significantly simplify implementation for new projects. These elements are delivered pre-assembled on a black back panel, with slats in oak and pine with different surface treatments:

Red oak – lacquered

  • 21×45 mm

  • Format: 2400×600 mm

Oak – white pigmented 1,25%

  • 21×43 mm

  • Format: 3000×600 mm

Pine – stained Spåtind

  • 21×45 mm

Plywood slats

Our plywood slats in veneered oak allow for variation in both surface treatment and type of wood. Veneer has a natural structural variation that gives an appealing look with good durability over time.

The plywood slats are delivered pre-assembled on the back panel. We are happy to help you with any questions about these elements or other solutions in our range.
